Description

This was my entry for the latest hardcore modeling challenge on CGTalk. The subject was "Animals in Motion." I worked on this for about 1-2 hours on average every night for about 5 weeks.

Initial models were created in Silo 2 and Lightwave. The hi res sculpting was done in ZBrush 3. Rendered in ZBrush 3.

Here's a turntable animation of the piece. It's about 6 MB.

Really nice work. I would like to suggest to give the material just a little bit more glossiness to achieve at important areas some highlights. I think the shadows are to soft and it (somehow strange) looks like the surface underneath is somesort of bowed. Besides that the movement of the dog is very dynamic and works pretty well. Thanks all!

herrwestphal, yeah the floor plane seems bowed in the middle under the sculpt. Not sure why. ZBrush has an awesome renderer but sometimes it's perspective rendering isn't quite perfectly accurate because of it's pixol rendering technology. It doesn't render the polys like other 3d apps. It renders z depth (pixels on the screen have depth as well as color).

The side views seem OK and doesn't have that anamoly .
